Quantum Mechanical Motion of Relativistic Particle in Non-Continuous Spacetime
The quantum mechanical motion of a relativistic particle in a noncontinuous spacetime is investigated. The spacetime model is a dense, rationale subset of two-dimensional Minkowski spacetime. Solutions of the Dirac equation are calculated using a generalized version of Feynman’s checkerboard model. They turn out to be closely related to the continuum propagator.

pμ dx /h̄, as is often quoted in the literature. We work in isotropic coordinates where the wave equations have a simple managable form and do not make a weak gravitational field approximation. We interpret these wave equations in terms of a quantum mechanical particle moving in medium with a spatially varying effective index of refraction. Due to the first order spatial derivative structure of ...
متن کاملRelativistic Spinning Particle and a New Non-commutative Spacetime
The relativistic spinning particle model, recently proposed by Staruszkiewicz, is analyzed in a Hamiltonian framework. The model is heavily constrained and constraint analysis, in the Dirac scheme, is both novel and instructive. Our major finding is an associated noncommutative spacetime the structure of which is completely new. We have shown that this non-commutative phase space algebra is ess...
متن کاملNon-Relativistic Strings in Expanding Spacetime
We obtain a non-relativistic diffeomorphism invariant string action as a special limit of the Nambu-Goto action in an FLRW background. We use this action to study non-relativistic string dynamics in an expanding universe and construct an analytic model describing the macroscopic properties of non-relativistic string networks. The non-relativistic constraint equations allow arbitrarily small str...
متن کاملDiscrete Spacetime and Relativistic Quantum Particles
We study a single quantum particle in discrete spacetime evolving in a causal way. We see that in the continuum limit any massless particle with a two dimensional internal degree of freedom obeys the Weyl equation, provided that we perform a simple relabeling of the coordinate axes or demand rotational symmetry in the continuum limit. It is surprising that this occurs regardless of the specific...
